Books that are Giving Me Hope

Books

I LOVE to read. Or listen to audio books. I heard Sarah Mae, one of my favorite authors, say the other day that books can be like good mentors. I 100% agree with that statement.

Especially being an introvert and someone who generally doesn’t reach out to people when I’m struggling with something (yes I know I need to work on this), books have been my saving grace at times. Reading wisdom or experience from an author who just seems to “get me” and can meet me right where I am… it’s a gift.

Hope-Giving Books of the Month

These are some of the books that have been filling me with hope and encouragement lately. If you have read any of them or decide to check them out, I’d love to know your thoughts. And if you have any you’d recommend, please share in the comments! <3

Present Over Perfect book by Shauna Niequist

If you struggle like me to be present in the moment, to put aside distractions, to slow down and really connect with the people in front of you… this book is for you. Being present is what truly matters. Not perfection. You don’t have to show up the “right way” in order to show up.

High Achiever book by Tiffany Jenkins

I nearly cried through this entire book. Her story is unbelievable, and reads like fiction. This book definitely puts addiction into perspective, which is great for anyone with loved ones who battle addiction. Also a great deterrent for anyone on the fence about abusing medication. It starts with one. But seeing where that road leads is extremely eye-opening.

The Complicated Heart book by Sarah Mae

The Complicated Heart

This book is her incredibly open and honest story about her relationship with her alcoholic mother. It is for anybody though, not just those who can relate to her situation. We all have people in our lives at certain times who hurt us or are difficult to love. This book helps to put things into perspective in those situations.

100 Days to Brave book by Annie F. Downs

I am only on day 5, but I am loving this sweet little devotional. Each day is a short read, yet it challenges me and brings me encouragement to be braver in just the few moments it takes to read it.
